Warsaw, September 29, 2025
At the upcoming DESA UNICUM auction, collectors will have the rare opportunity to acquire a true gem – “On Mysticism in Art” (2007) by Wojciech Cieśniewski. This work belongs to his abstract cycle, a period of his practice that is almost never available on the secondary market.
Cieśniewski, a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, has long been recognized as one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary Polish art. His work oscillates between figuration and abstraction, always infused with deep reflections on spirituality and the human condition.
In March 2025, audiences experienced his most recent works during “Faces of the Soul: Virtues and Sins”, a project organized by the 407 Art Foundation and curated by dr Grażyna Bastek i Aron Pudełko. This exhibition as presented on official video revealed the full scope of Cieśniewski’s artistic maturity, where painting becomes not only an image but also a philosophical meditation on the complexity of the soul and the world.
DESA UNICIUM Auction
The piece offered at DESA UNICUM is an extraordinary opportunity for collectors: paintings of this scale and from this period hardly ever come to auction. The fact that the artist continues to create and expand his practice makes this work even more valuable – a meeting point of history and the present moment.
Wojciech Cieśniewski For Art Collectors
Beyond the auction, works from Wojciech Cieśniewski’s latest cycle are also available in the Artworks For Sale section. This is a chance to engage directly with one of the most important living Polish painters and to enrich your collection with works of both artistic and investment significance.
407 Art Foundation Supporting Polish Artists
407 Art Foundation’s mission is to promote Polish artists and creating a platform for them to communicate their work to a broader audience. Our curators highlight the uniqueness of each artist’s language, offering collectors and viewers deeper insight into the creative process and the cultural context in which these works are born.
