Our recent visit to Pirelli HangarBicocca, one of Europe’s most dynamic exhibition spaces, provided us, the team at 407 Art Foundation, with another invaluable insight into the criteria that guide curators and the Pirelli family’s art dealers in selecting works for their collection. This experience, deeply rooted in our mission to promote young talents, complements our previous visit to the Prada Foundation, creating a comprehensive picture of the diversity of approaches to contemporary art.
At Pirelli HangarBicocca, unlike during our stay at the Prada Foundation, we noticed a strong emphasis on artists and the conceptual aspects of their work. The art presented was characterized by bold expression and the absence of barriers, both ideologically and spatially. As observers and promoters of young artists, experiencing Anselm Kiefer’s permanent exhibition was particularly important for us. Engaging with his works, the possibility of feeling them in silence and solitude, allowed for deep reflection on the artist’s message. This interaction became a reflection of direct contact with art and its impact on the viewer.
This visit, etched in our memory, reminded us that art should be directed towards the audience to have the greatest impact and fulfill the mission set by the artist. As a Foundation that aims to promote and support young talents, we draw inspiration from this visit for further action. It reminds us of the importance of direct experience of art and its impact on individual world perception.
In pursuit of a deeper understanding and appreciation of art, we organize private visits for our generous donors to artists’ studios, both in Poland and abroad, and curatorial tours of private collections. These exclusive experiences allow for a personal encounter with art, familiarity with the criteria of its selection, and an understanding of the creative process.
We encourage artists to submit their initiatives and collectors to engage with our Foundation. Your support not only allows us to organize private tours but, more importantly, effectively promotes Polish artists on the international stage, directing their artistic careers, and gaining recognition among foreign art collectors.
Our visit to Pirelli HangarBicocca, like the one to the Prada Foundation, shows how, by drawing on international contacts, we can effectively support the development of young talents. It confirms that the 407 Art Foundation is a bridge connecting Polish artists with the global art community.
